That speech was pretty magnificent. I don’t think it’s going to sway FIFA away from corruption though. They’re too far gone.

I’d like to see the country who gets the men’s World Cup also host the women’s World Cup. Would make sense to re-use infrastructure. FIFA would prove they care about women’s game. Would the Emirati nations still want in?

Actually dont think.thats a good idea. The men play june to juli. The women cant play simultaneously with the men, because that would exceed the capacities for fan accomodation as well as might push the pitches beyond what they can take.

So if they have to play immediately afterwards, people most certainly will care less since the greatest tournament has just ended a few days prior and this is dominating the headlines, so the women would be an afterthought.

So imo its good that they play somewhere else in different years, as this allows people in other markets to get excited for a tournament.

She may not be popular for what the Norwegian football federation does domestically, but in relations to fifa and uefa she’s brilliant.

Genuinely, does anyone want the world cup to be in their country? It would cost billions that can go anywhere else. As far as I’m concerned, let the arab countries host every wc and Olympics from now until the end of time. We don’t need more stadiums, we need roads, schools, healthcare etc

The European Big 5 has all the stadiums and infrastructure and many other countries do as well. Brazil is an interesting example for this. They didn’t really have to spend much for the world cup. But they did anyway. They for example build a giant stadium in the capital not because they needed another stadium but because they wanted a stadium in the capital. The world cup was just an excuse.

The Olympics are a bit different. Many countries would have most of the infrastructure to host the olympics but the IOC requires them all to be in the same city which makes the costs sky rocket. The World cup happens in many different cities so it doesn’t suffer that problem.

Who watches the Olympics anymore, unless the us Congress is live on TV, there’s nothing else comes close in terms of corruption for a televised event.

    I stopped watching years ago
