It is still so mind-blowing after having read Spielverlagerung religiously back in the day. His career trajectory is remarkable.
Could you elaborate further to a non-German?
About 10 years ago, Maric, along with others, started a blog called Spielverlagerung where they analysed football games from a tactical perspective – in a quality that was never seen before. It was huge on football Twitter back in the day.
They’ve translated a few articles into English, something like this: https://spielverlagerung.com/2013/07/27/bayern-munich-fc-barcelona-in-depth/
And here’s an article from 2018 about his journey: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/sep/19/chatroom-bootroom-rene-maric-modern-coach-salzburg
Fuck it, bring in the whole gang. Martin Rafelt, Tim Rieke, Tobias Escher, this is football heritage.
Not to forget good old Constantin Eckner
Started from VBT 2013 Halbfinale now we’re here
Anyone have a bit more insight about this? I’m curious what this position actually entails and/or how this diffuses to other areas of the club.
