Love a manufacturing process video on YouTube sometimes.

Just watched one where the “QC PASSED” sticker went on the appliance before it was even fully assembled. Gotta love it.

I’m in dark mood tonight. Life lately seems to be all about money and worrying about and trying to hang on to it. And part of me thinks it really doesn’t seem worth it.

I understand, and have moments of that myself. It is worth it, there is love and sunshine and they cost nothing.

      I feel that myself.

After spending years on an informal no-buy I’ve now started allowing myself an occasional treat or looking at affordable alternatives for getting what I need.

Plus reminding myself that I’m not completely destitute, that things are tight but I’m choosing not to eat into my savings.

      But that’s such a mood.

There are, for me, 4 types of playing guitar:

    1. I want to try to write and record something
    2. I want to try some new ideas
    3. I’m just fucking around
    4. I need to create the sonic equivalent of smashing my head against a brick wall until the wall breaks.

Tonight was number 4. And it also generally lines up with “I need to get some shit out of my system”.

Last picture of the lonny dog beach fence :( That’s all that’s left was a good 500m back in the day it’s about 4m now last few weeks was the nail in the coffin. God speed fence you didn’t really serve a purpose but you existed.

Made my burger and ate it.

Super messy affair. The bottom half of the burger bun literally disintegrated in my hands and had to turn it upside down just to keep it together.

Need to figure out how to stop it from disintegrating like that.

Also more cooking time needed for Patties. Maybe 2 more mins and higher temp.

Lightly fry the cut side of the bun in a frying pan until toasted. With the patties, rest them on some paper towel to soak up any excess oils.

What kind of bread was the bun? Brioche buns can be fragile and tear easy. Plain bread roll is sturdier. You could also start the layers with something non-juicy first, like lettuce leaf or cheese.

It was just a plain white burger bun.

I had a layer of hash brown but it wasn’t crispy and ended up more like mash potato in the end as well.

I think there is less vaping since the bans. I don’t notice clouds of fruit flavoured smoke wafting around as much as I used to. I guess the ban is working? I had just assumed the illegal supply would fill the gap.

If anybody’s ever thought I’m giving the McPeake people a hard time and shouldn’t call them incompetent reject tradies:

That wood at the bottom had rotted out, so he came to ‘fix’ it by putting a triangular piece of wood there. He put a fucking nail through the window.

I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW HE WAS HERE! HE CAME AND “FIXED” THE WINDOW WITHOUT TELLING ME!! THEN HE RAN AWAY AFTER BREAKING THE WINDOW!!! (I have it on camera, it was 100% without a doubt him!)

Oh, I should also add that this fuckwit turned up in a T-shirt that said “Hate to brag, but I’m pure blooded [obnoxious winky face]”. I don’t know if I’m looking too far into it, but the only 2 contexts I am aware of a bogan sounding, white aussie bloke saying or wearing anything along those lines are either anti-vaxxers (“pure” because they’re unvaccinated), or racists (“pure” because they’re white). He was just generally a dropkick as well, so I don’t have high hopes he didn’t genuinely rock up wearing a racist shirt

(and even if there’s another, more innocent meaning to it, wearing something like that to work seems very risky. That’s a phrase usually used in reference to race, and I feel like you have a responsibility to not wear anything people may find offensive to work, even if that isn’t your intention.)

Look up the phrase ‘diamond pure’ sometime. It’s the technical term for dog shit that’s turned white in the sun. Used to be used a lot for tanning fine leather for bookbinding and gloves. Back in my grandparents day kids could earn pocket money gathering it off the street and selling it to the tanneries. Those ‘pure’ t shirts still give me quiet giggles.

Honestly that’s most of McPeake’s staff. They have the gov contracts for all (or almost all) government owned houses (including the housing commission flats and child protection properties), so they act with immunity. I don’t know whether they’re stuck in a long contract, there’s some kind of kickback system happening, or what, but they do really low quality work
