If you play as a Witch, it becomes clear that she cares only about three things:

Herself, power, and thaumaturgy.

She is overconfident and helps the people of Wraeclast only for her own convenience.

It leaves me wondering: Why didn’t she try to control the Beast like Malachai and others did?

She had every reason to believe that killing the Beast could end thaumaturgy, which would be terrible for her.

One good argument could be that she saw how every attempt to control it failed and decided it was a bad idea. However, during the game, there are some lines that portray her as so overconfident that she might have given it a try anyway.
