Perhaps unsurprisingly this is not the most well-informed and unbiased article on MAPs, but it’s still interesting to read about what they thought of us as they read through the posts in these darknet forums.
While the article was written by someone at Cracked, the info itself comes from “Pam”, an undergrad student who’s supposedly not a pedophile herself and was just infiltrating 7axxn to get info for her research project (never even heard of this forum before, probably long dead and gone). She has 5 main takeaways from her “research”:
-
In The Dark Web, You’ll Find A Whole Pedophile “Community” (They talk about how there are quite a few forums in the darknet with thousands of users.)
-
There Are Two Opposing “Camps” Of Child Molester (Pro-abuse (hurtcore) and pro-contact but anti-abuse. Of course, the writer believes that all sexual contact with children is abuse so they don’t care about this distinction.)
-
For Some People, It’s A Family Business (Yes, lots of pedophiles have sex with their kids. What a shocker.)
-
Child Molesters Have A Handbook (They found out about The Pedophile’s Handbook.)
-
They Are Very Good At Staying Anonymous (Yes, most of us don’t dox ourselves and avoid giving out personal information. Surprising, I know.)
I’ve never actually been able to find the handbook, despite my best efforts. Makes me sad.
@clarissanobue @MattWalsh I found it once. I never save interesting onion sites I find though, so that’s long gone
The handbook also keys newbie pedophiles in on helpful hints such as using the shorthand acronym CP, instead of actually typing “child pornography.”
CP? That could be anything! I’m sure these people are just trading cute puppies and communist propaganda.
What about crow pride and cyberpunk?
Truly, the possibilities are endless.
Interesting. I’m too tired to properly collect and convey my thoughts right now, but I do agree that a lot of this is dressed up in loaded, outrage stoking language and is almost entirely in bad faith, with a lot of nonsensical inferences. Which, given the general opinion of pedophiles in society, is not surprising. I don’t doubt that abuse happens in these dark web circles – I can’t say for sure because I’m not in them, but thanks to the article for telling us how to get to them :) – but it sounds like a lot of what happened on these sites was mischaracterized and/or taken greatly out of context to demonize people like us.
Again, I’m tired, so this might be a bit incoherent or opaque, so I apologize for that.
I love how you don’t even need to go on the dark web to find this shit It’s public info
