I’ve been watching the 40k gameplay and it looks just gorgeous aesthetically, but the gameplay loop seemed incredibly repetitive even after just a few minutes, forcing the player into finisher juggling.

If the StarCraft shooter can make the universe come to life similarly and also manage to not be as restrictive in gameplay I’d probably grab that.

Ideally, supervision over most non critical sectors would fall to randomly drafted, single term committees of the people, think jury duty except better compensated and obviously with bureaucratic resources available to enable these committees to fulfil their role adequately.

Now this isn’t suited for everything, but in either system any true oversight is done by the people, not the state.

If they literally just made a trilogy of the wc3 campaigns they would’ve easily made decent cinema. While the arthas storyline is a little derivative (as most things blizzard makes) it is still the best epic saga they made to date, aside from perhaps the original StarCraft and broodwar shakespearean intrigue fiesta.

Not defending the practice in a combat scenario because that’s obviously dumb especially in the uber warfare that’s happening in 40k. Virus bombs that can destroy entire ecosystems in proverbial seconds, rounds and shells with more diameter than a fucking bus, chaos sorcery of the worst kind is a frequent encounter as well.

But for propaganda material it makes a lot of sense I’d say, the masses need to see their heroes’ faces. There are also some marine chapters that use mutated or otherwise extreme gene seed when making their warriors, for example one chapter becomes a lot more animalistic in its physical characteristics and the helmet negatively impacts their altered natural senses.

Akshully, a significant portion of them prefers to fight without a helmet where possible, for various reasons such as chapter culture or certain gene seed variants. The primarchs are also often depicted without helmets, but considering the lore is essentially imperial propaganda it might make sense to depict them that way for PR reasons.

But then why all the elaborate, intrusive and likely expensive (for the corp) user profiling? If the most effective advertising is just blasting random mildly related suggestions at the consumer that seems a huge waste of money.
