I started with the 95/96 season because that was the first season with 20 teams & 38 games
This has genuinely answered a question that I have had for years.
When Charlie Austin scored all those goals for QPR and still finished last I thought that has to be some kind of record. I couldn’t quite think of how to word the question and never found the answer.
Now you have found the answer so thanks!
Like fair play to Charlie Austin because that QPR side was miserable- there are plenty of strikers in teams in the Top 4 don’t get to 18 goals. It’s the bottom half of the table that impresses me the most in some ways.
Wonder who is going to snap Toney up? Fair few teams that could use a quality PL proven striker.
Getting 20+ while your team is in bottom 3 is very impressive
Harry Kane 😭 It’s crazy how it’s only now he plays for Bayern some people realise how good he is, he’s played for some shit Tottenham teams but always played at a elite level
Also Alan Shearer was a menace, it’s incredible how consistent he was
Definitely seems in hindsight they were always set up more defensively and too comfortable to rely on him for moments of magic. Maybe if they’d played more on the front foot they could have maximized his use, won more matches 3-2 instead of 1-0.
tbh Haaland is well clear of the rest, a pure striker.
