I saw my consultant today. I’ve been on a newly licensed drug called Cenabomate and it’s stopped the seizures but the side effects have been pretty full on with fatigue, confusion and so on.

Instead of being rigid about the whole thing he’s completely changed the treatment plan and changed the dose of one of the other medications I’m taking to try to reduce the side effects. He’s also taken careful notes about my experience because it’s a new drug and he wants to get as much info as possible for when he next prescribes it to another off his patients.

Not all doctors I’ve had have been so patient focused that they build a treatment plan around your actual lifestyle and what is happening to you as a person on a daily basis. I really feel good after today’s appointment and very grateful. I hope anyone else out there with epilepsy reading this has found a good doctor as well.

That’s awesome!!! I’ve had some pretty great specialists and some pretty awful ones. I’ve become a better advocate for myself over the last 5-10 years so I really try to find specialists that are knowledgeable and actually listen.

I’m so glad you have a great specialist you are working with, and I hope the treatment plan works out well for you. Fingers crossed!
