We know about things like FFP and home grown talent. But the teams at the bottom of the table generally come up one season from the Championship and then go down the next season.
How would you change this? Or should it be changed?
I still think City are going to be hard to beat this season which would make it about a million league titles in a row. It’s fair but is it ‘fair’ to all the other teams in the bottom half?
Add a new card called the orange card, or something. It’s in between a yellow and a red. It means that you get suspended from the next match (sort of like accumulating too many yellow cards) but you can stay in that match. Or vice versa. I don’t know
Ban state ownership first, then look at dodgy sponsorship.
This may sound stupid but, we need to hold referees more accountable. We need a merit system, referees get promoted and demoted to the championship based on merit.
Points bonus for the team who receives the most apologies from PGMOL.
I can’t stand penalty shoot outs to decide any game.
My proposal is that once 90 minutes has passed each time must take off 1 player every 5 minutes until there are only 7 on each team, they then play until a goal is scored. The extra space on the field should result in a goal fairly quickly
A set transfer amount. Every club have the exact same transfer budget. Might help a bit
Make a small % of each club’s wage bill payable as a fee to a treasury pool. That treasury pool is then split evenly and distributed to all 20 teams.
Basically lower budget teams will get a top up, higher budget teams will help fund others.
Controversial, but I’d bin offsides.
Bin off VAR
Win and you have to field one less player the next game. Lose and you get another player the next game.
Its fair as it is now to the bottom teams
Way too many examples of successful promotions to consider even more rules to make things “even”
Will never happen but:
- Less substitutes
- Less champions league
- Only 2 players total allowed in or out on loan at any one time (exception to allow U23 academy products out on loan).
Institute a draft system for youth players. The bottom teams get first pick for graduating youth players in the league, leading to them strengthening over time
VAR the same as rugby
Prem continues during the international break.
Teams lower in the table are less likely to lose their players, so it would balance out the sides.
