Nah mate, just UTD are a poorly run club with no planning and no one really in charge of transfers and just paid whatever for a player the manager wanted… any seriously run club would’ve said no at 40/50 mil and moved into another target, he’s not even a unique player really does nothing special and there’s countless left footed right wingers out there for half or less the money.

Because we are United so usually are made overpay.

And then most importantly we are idiots and throw money at players no one else are bidding for cause we don’t know how to negotiate

Yeah, we also didn’t do anything until deadline day, it’s like we spent all summer thinking if we should get Antony or Gakpo. Ajax wanted like 70-80m Euro if I remember it correctly, we didn’t give them that and then we panic bought him on deadline day for that ridiculous amount because we hadn’t signed anyone in that position. Even 70-80m Euro would have been way too much.

And we also definitely picked the wrong player, Gakpo would have been a way better transfer but our management are just idiots.

Yeah obviously, I meant as in he wasn’t overly amazing at Ajax there was numerous right wingers better and cheaper than him.

It really showed how much of the transfer team/scouting/football director etc is lacking, any real one would’ve bailed out at 40/50 mil

It’s pretty mad. City got Doku for €35m less and he’s always been rated much higher. Ten Hag must’ve seen things in training with Ajax that nobody else did because apparently United’s scouts had already watched him and thought he wasn’t good enough.

I think United just throw massive money at players to make a statement regardless of whether they are worth the money or would actually fit into their team structure. Di María, Pogba, Cristiano (not a high transfer fee, granted) and Sancho all fit those criteria.

Good, like many players in the eredivise. The point is he wasn’t even the best player in his team.

Didn’t understand it, not some athletic freak either like a nunez or holjund with massive room to improve he’s just a winger with a left foot.
