Good for him man. Very brave of him.

It makes me really sad though that mental healthcare is lagging so far behind other medicine and that it isn’t accessible as it should be.

That’s great by the club but I don’t know if publicly announcing it is the best way to go about it

It’s good to see mental health being taken seriously in football.

    Wishes for a quick recovery.

Mental health issues should be treated as seriously as physical issues and injuries. If you’re not fit to play, you shouldn’t play. Happy to see Burnley take a positive stance on this.

Lennon in 2017 at Everton had a crisis and now helps others, slowly getting their with mental health, he also helps others now with it

By the same token fans shouldn’t be slated for preferring players that don’t have mental health issues.

A role model! Mental health among footballers has been an overlooked issue for way too long and it is time to break the taboo.

Just treating it as any other absense it’s an absolutely massive blow for Burnley to lose a player with 5 goals contributions when they’ve only scored 8 goals this season

It is a massive blow for Burnley but that makes it even more “impressive”, for want of a better word, in my eyes - they are in full support of the human behind the player regardless of how it affects their position in the league.

Best of luck to the lad, I hope he can overcome his struggles and live his best life.

He had real struggles in Belgium, but seemed to be in a better place after coming to England, so this is a sad development.

From a Burnley point of view, he’s been one of the few players who has really looked like a PL talent, and has basically carried our attacking end product, so this is a huge miss as it won’t likely be a short term issue either.

Glad he’s feeling comfortable enough to be public about it though, hope he continues to get the help he needs.

This is such a sad development.

Sure, from a footballing point of view it’s a huge blow. He’s been just about the only bright spot for us this season. But more than that, he comes across in interviews as a genuinely nice lad.

All you can do is wish him all the best and be relieved, if that’s the right word, that the club have acted in such a way as to put him and his welfare first and foremost.

It must be hard as well to work out how long is needed. With a physical injury, there are tests and more tests, doctors can stick probes in you and take measurements. Yep, we certify your ankle is good now, get back on the pitch. For a mental health injury, it’s much harder… it’s going to have to be much more player-driven.

Reminds me of Sturridge and Klopp saying his mental state was an issue with injuries, there was also Eduardo at Arsenal after the ankle injury jumped out of a tackle and Arsenal ended up having to appeal
