People compare Havertz and Mount, Arteta at least knows what he’s doing with Havertz whether you agree or disagree with him. He’s trying to get the best out of his signing whereas bald fraud has no idea why he signed the likes of Mount, Antony, Malacia, etc etc

Mount was bought for the ‘best transitional football in the world’ Ten Hag wants to play. He’s not a cm traditionally, defensively, passing, ball retention he’s not Kovacic, Szoboszlai, Caicedo, Bissouma etc. But he’s smart, will press and has energy.

Not playing him last few games means Ten Hag has temporarily put on hold any long term development of his ideas because the team can’t score, McTominay is in form so has to play according to Ten Hag.

I think like Havertz you have to just go with it, you bought for a reason. Coach.

Optimistic/sensible answer: ETH needed depth in that bench too. Man U subs were lacking and if they really wanted to get on City’s level they needed a bench as efficient as the first team.

Realistic answer: Man U has had a pretty lacking transfer/scouting strategy and they felt the pressure to sign a big name before the window closed. Also, Chelsea just knows how to market their players and sell them.

I think the idea was to play him alongside Bruno, press really high up and overwhelm the defence. However Wolves showed in the first game of the season that if you just chip it past the first line then you’re running directly at an isolated, aging Casemiro. The Spurs game it worked a bit better, then Mount got injured, and the idea was scrapped. Now Mount is kind of a spare part with no defined role other than play back up to Bruno, who rarely misses a game. I’m baffled by the whole situation really. I can see the merit and realising something isn’t working and changing it but spending a lot of money on a player that you’ve got a very specific plan for, and then giving up on it after two games? Madness.

I don’t know if this is true or not but apparently Mount’s father pushed for him to be sold to Manchester United more than him

Because Utd doesn’t have a scouting network. They literally see who Liverpool is linked with and go for them, or try to copy. Mount, Bruno, Depay. Saw we bought VVD so they bought Maguire.

Well the players we want get vetoed then we overpay for 3rd or 4th choice….fucking Woodward and Murtough. People are daft to keep blaming ETH, but the majority of this sub are 20 somwthing tarts that play more fifa than actual footy or even watch it and know what is going on. Only thing they have ever coached is a fucking fantasy football team

Things take time. In isolation I don’t think it’s a surprise that amount needs time to settle into a new role.

Out of the 16 signings he’s made total, only 5 or 6 of them were his actual 1st choice signings and 5 of them were loans. The board just can’t get deals done, and when they do, they pay extortionate amounts - somehow reflecting badly on Ten Hag. Would be a very different situation if we got his 1st choice picks instead of his 3rd 4th or even 5th choices
