Hello, a technician recently installed fiber internet through my yard without any conduit as he said the cable is water and sun resistant. Is this legit? I’m debating whether I should put the cable inside a PVC conduit/trunking or leave it as it is and would like a second opinion.

Thanks!
Put it in conduit because if you accidentally damage it, they will charge you to come out and fix it. Ask me how I know
Confirm if that’s how they intend to leave it.
We have a fiber ISP in my town. If you sign up for service in the cold months when the ground is frozen, they’ll install it this way TEMPORARILY. When spring rolls around, they come back and run it underground.
I don’t know if that’s legit or not, but I certainly would not accept that on my house. I’d probably call the company and give them a heads up and see if they fix it. If they didn’t, I would
Looks like probably 1 strand with a strength member. Doesn’t look like any UV outside cable I have ever seen, and certainly not for direct burial.
Probably indoor/outdoor jumper cable to go from the outside splice enclosure in to where the ONT is located, with the majority of the cable intended to be indoors.
If that is thier “perminant” installation, consider putting some rigid or flexible conduit or other covering over it that can take the outdoor UV light. Not a good idea to disconnect it at either end, as you will likely damage the fiber at the end, but you could probably slip something over it like plastic cable loom, or half a conduit to eliminate UV exposure, and protect it from the elements some.
