Hi all,
I bought this bulk Monoprice Cat6A solid core ethernet cable for an electrician to run through my walls. It all feeds into a patch panel. I have about 30-40 feet left over, and was trying to crimp a few cables myself to plug some devices into the drops in the wall.
I am having a really tough time (I’m new to crimping my own cables) because of that solid core in the middle. It’s really difficult to get the wires lined up properly with that thing in the way. I assumed that was the “solid core” for in-wall ethernet, and went to buy some stranded instead of solid in the hopes that it would not have that core.
But based on the pictures, it seems like stranded has that same core? For example, this one says it is stranded, but the picture still shows that core.
Can someone help explain? Can I get Cat6A without that solid spine in the middle? If not, is there a trick to getting the wires lined up easily around it?
Thanks!
You cut the core off at whatever length you need to terminate.
