Everton have been handed a 10-point deduction this season for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
The club was referred to an independent commission in March for alleged breaches relating to the 2021-22 season and a hearing took place last month.
Everton could have been fined or given a transfer embargo, but the Premier League have now confirmed the punishment of a points deduction, which will see Sean Dyche’s side drop to 19th in the table, only above bottom-placed Burnley on goal difference.

I think some of the reasons why Everton have been hit faster than City is because City simply didn’t cooperate with the investigation and Everton have. I suspect this is why it’s only a 10 point and not a 12 point deduction and also Everton have 1 charge or at most 3 charges whereas City have a catalogue of Charges.
But Everton being punished now means City (if they are found guilty and that’s a big old if with city) must also face adequate punishment.
If City do, which I doubt, I expect it will be a fine or something handed down mid season, anything which a) doesn’t affect results and b) doesn’t remove or affect titles.
