I see a lot of people crapping on international breaks and complaining about the boredom but if anything it’s something that people could look forward to even during the club season

At least 90% of this chatter is coming from (English) Prem fans or people from top 9 nations which, sure it may not be fun for you seeing your team dump 14 past others, but to get rid of the break like some are suggesting?

This week I saw my nation play for the first time in 15-20 months, and though we came out with two draws (the latter of which should’ve been a win), I enjoyed it more than watching club football week in week out. Unlike (quite bluntly) entitled Western European fans, it is an entertaining being the underdog and watching the country you’re from, the nation of you descent, attempt to make somewhat of a name for themself on the continental and eventually international stage

Im Bosnian and i want to shove a shoe up my mouth. The results we have been having were a little expected though. I mean, we didn’t even have Dzeko, Pjanic, Sehic, Kolasinac and even more in this international break. No wonder we lost both matches. I do hope one day, we can come back.

I’m Polish and I hate the international breaks, precisely because our NT is so unwatchable.

I love international football generally, just hate how the spicy /competitive season is interrupted by largely uncompetitive games. Even if the underdog wins, it rarely means much in qualification games.

I went from watching City vs Chelsea to watching England and Scotland play 2 extremely boring games.

I think the problem is the structure of international qualifiers, there’s rarely that much drama or upset, and when there is its a ‘good’ team failing to qualify over the course of several games rather than an exciting moment where an underdog prevails.

I actually feel that it’s more of a new/plastics fan sort of thing to hate on international football. You know, the people who started to support City and PSG 2 years ago.

I mean anyone (in England) who interacts with football fans outside of Reddit on regular basis knows that not true.

I don’t have strong feelings about the international breaks but disliking them is hardly a niche opinion, it’s been this way for years.

I don’t think so, I find the games boring. Sure I’m going to cheer for our guys, but coming from a small country, the quality of football is mostly meh. And the players that go into the national team are from good teams, and then they get stupid injuries…

As a United fan, I’m just glad there were zero charges or controversial events during the break unless you count Rashford’s brother getting arrested. 😂

    You’re right

Though I feel it largely depends on person to person, I don’t really care about international football beyond the big competitions

If I was a fan of a smaller nation I’d definitely be on the same boat

I feel though a lot complain about it too much, but seeing Gavi get injured only makes me sympathise with them more
