I want to buy the new Smart Tag 2 for my FIL, but he still uses a Galaxy S8 phone and does not seem to want to change it any time soon. Based on what I read online, the new tag version is only compatible with newer Galaxy versions, but is it impossible to use with an S8 or do you just get access to limited features on the S8 (I understand that things like AR Finder might not work, but just being able to see where your things are on a map would suffice)?

If the Smart Tag 2 is not compatible, would finding a Smart Tag for sale be an option or do those not work with an S8 either?
