So, got an interesting one for ya. I want to use my raspberry pi to host a web server. It will be internet facing. I don’t however want to leave it open for anyone to bust into, and I want to keep it separate from my other devices.
My main network and wifi is running off a TP-Link Archer AX55.
I have a Dlink-860L that I have installed DD-WRT onto. My plan is, take the WAN port of the Dlink, and plug it into one of the LAN ports of the TP-link and use it as a sort of hardware firewall.
My question to you guys is, can you forsee any problems cropping up, whether it be through port forwarding, or even through assigning the Pi an IP address, and what do i need to do to make it work smoothly
That will work fine. Of course you will have to open your http port, and if your http server (or something inside of it) has a vulnerability then it could be compromised. So risks do remain.
