Thought this would be an interesting thought experiment to see what people thought, going by the quality of football but also connections you may have had to certain tournaments. What would be your ranking?

For me 2022 just had everything, two elites in Messi and Mbappe at their best, the story with Messi trying to win it, bags of goals - perfect. 2006 with Zidane stealing the show albeit for wrong reasons, still a classic. Also I don’t think any of these finals were bad, but some were definitely not as entertaining.

So I’d go:

2002 WC

2014 WC

2018 WC

2010 WC

      Why 2014 so high? I remember we the game feeling kinda boring other then extra time and then the winner. Brazil wc as a whole was pretty cool though.

    I rate the 2010 final the worst because it marked the apex of the Guardiolization process in modern football. It should never had happened.

        Idk croatia had double possession and shots rly jsut looked like the moral got whipped out of them that game by the time it got to 3-1, because of the poor reffing and unfortunate misses. The last 30 minutes and score prolly makes it feel more one sided then it was. Still would favor france but I don’t think it’s very clear cut.

      For how many goals were in that final, it was surprisingly uneventful. France were the better team and they won and that’s that. I can’t even name the players that scored in that match. I think mbappe got a goal and maybe giroud?

    2022 2002 2006 2014 2010 2018.

    I am biased towards second place mainly because of R9’s comeback and scoring the two goals in that World Cup final.

    For me a final should be close and tightly contested 1-0 or 2-1 with the best teams both offensiv and defensive. The 2022 final didn’t feel right sure loads of goals 3 penalties. Then the penalty shootout was bad.

    So for med the best 2014–2006—2010—2022—2002 and last 2018.
