He is the 2nd most successful manager England has ever had. Respect the man ffs.

You can respect what he has done yes (2018-2021). But he’s the weak link in the England team now. Another golden generation will be wasted under a poor coach.

Could Southgate get a top job in club football if he wanted to? I don’t think so.

He’s not a top manager. This is England’s most talented generation in a while and he’s squandering it.

I can’t see many managers of top clubs wanting to manage England, or any national team. It’s usually a retirement job or one that goes to a less experienced manager.

It’s simple really. Ask yourself, would you be happy to have Southgate manage your own club? If the answer is no then he definitely shouldn’t be managing the team. The man is fuelling the fire by being stubborn and choosing players that aren’t deserving of being picked/started. Also, I always get the impression he looks too much to his 2nd Steve Holland.

OK, so not Premier League so expecting this post to get removed fairly soon but in the meantime I’ll bite.

What is the best national team we’ve beaten on our tournament runs? I DARE you to say the worst Germany in decades.

There are players in this team who have no right to be anywhere near the squad given the number of exciting players coming through. Meaning that when Euro 2024 comes around we’ll be stuck with the same dross and the players who deserve to be there are nowhere near the setup, and sycophantic Southgate suckers will be saying ‘hurr but they don’t have the international experience’. You know why that is? Because your ‘so successful’ manager decided to give 180 minutes to fucking Maguire in DEAD RUBBER games.

Respect him, sure, but he is wasting a seriously exciting generation of England players and we look rotten.

I actually liked his work upto and including the 2018 world cup but since then I’ve not been a fan atall.

Yes he got to the Euro final but also shit bed during the game, giving Saka the 5th pen (who was evidently overwhelmed by the occasion) was one of the most mind-blowing decisions I’ve ever seen.

I will give him credit for creating a better atmosphere in England camps and it being a place players are looking forward to going to (compared to the golden generation era by their own admission) but I fear we’re going to waste this generation of players under Southgate the same way Belgium did entrusting Hazard/KDB and co to Wilmots, such a shame.

England has tons of talent, but he still has them playing timidly. He should be very aggressive with a front line of Kane, Foden and Bellingham.

Plus he keeps playing his favorites (Maguire, Henderson) that shouldn’t be in the squad.

I’ll put some respec on his name, when he has the balls to do what everyone knows he needs to and drops Maguire

Hes top because of all the players that are coming up for England. With a different coach, England would be world cup champ, and Euro champ. My opinion 🙂

I’ll never in my life forget introducing my friend to football this World Cup and him saying “these guys play like Neanderthals” while watching stones and maguire exchange passes for the first time
