That WC was the most dominant farewell tour ever. Sucks France didn’t win it all but one could argue the headbutt immortalised Zidane’s last game, lol
That performance gave me goosebumps, even Brazilian were in awe.
Almost 20 years later, and I still go back to watching his individual highlights from that game. Absolutely majestic. And this was in the knockout stages, after he’d announced his retirement, so he knew any game could be his last. And then the panenka in the final, the coldest thing I’ve ever seen.
