Hi guys,I am looking to buy this phone as I was before an Samsung user(S7 edge and s9) and currently I am using an iphone 11 that has served me well but it’s starting to show it’s age. My only reasons that I don’t jump directly on buying one it’s because I am afraid that it still has those amount hiccups and stutters and how it’s the banking apps and payment work compared to apple pay? Can you give me your experience of you changed from iphone to s23 ultra?

    So, I ordered the S23U, it’s on the way atm The other phone I was looking at was the Motorola Edge+ (2023). Might be worth looking at both. Ended up going with the S23U because the trade in deals RN are too good to pass up

    I have been using Samsung devices for 10+ years now. Currently rocking a 23 ultra. Had iPhone 11 before my S21, which was the previous phone of mine.

    You can rest assured that this phone just blows everything else out of the water. 120 Hz screen with incredible quality makes everything look even more smooth. Processing power+ smooth/fast UI is also going to help you so much. You won’t be feeling any kind of stutter for the lifespan of your usage. My friend’s 14 PM seems less smooth and so “regular” to me , after my experience with ultra.

    By and large as of now, Samsung S series phones are “complete phones” - they are sold with all the promised features actually working (rather than google phones that promise 10 features, but 5 of them in the coming months).

    For the past 10 years I’ve never had hiccups where the phone becomes unusable or needs a software update. Typical software update is disappointing - you can’t tell what changed on the phone after the update till you read the changelog.

    All banking apps and payment apps work fine, except for this irritating habit of every banking /payment app trying to take over your NFC default.

    If you stick with Samsung Pay, IMHO it’s faster and better than Apple Pay. For things like transit, you don’t even need to unlock your phone or log in to any apps.

      In Europe I don’t think it’s available Samsung pay so I need to stick with gpay,is it reliable?

        It’s reliable. It works. Personally I don’t find gPay secure enough for me to to use as a default NFC app, but that’s me.

        I was buying something at a Hermes shop and didn’t bring my physical credit card. Samsung pay limits each transaction to $500 (iirc) on the phone, and the transactions couldn’t go through. I was on the verge of asking them to break it up into many $500 transactions, then I tried gpay and realised that there was no limit. I think I paid for the relatively large purchase without needing any authentication like a fingerprint on a unlocked screen. Just tap and paid. It was convenient, but…

        Good thing about Android is the amt of choice. When I was in Paris for a few months last year, I set the “IDF Mobilities” + “Ticket sans contact” apps on my phone for transit purposes, worked fine together with gPay and Samsung Pay on my phone, all at the same time.

        Ran around northern and western Europe with gpay and Samsung pay too, installed like over 10 different apps (every country has their own transit apps etc), all were fine too.

          Yeah I think it’s better to use Samsung pay,also on apple pay I have like 300 limit so it better. It’s crazy they gpay doesn’t require an autentification to give green light to the purchase. On iOS I always need to put my face first so it’s secure

            Mine was probably government/bank mandated for all mobile payments, including apple pay. $100 only when first launched in 2016, then revised to 300, or 500.

            Not sure about now, but I’m not going to shame myself at a high-end boutique again. Will just try gpay is need to. 🤣

      don’t forget about samsung forcing updates every month that bring bugs and then they never fix them! google also does that but less frequently.

        Hmmm well I’ve never had “bugs” in my S series phones so far for the last 12 years… not sure which “bugs” you’re talking about. I did a quick search, and haven’t found any notable “bugs” noted in the last few years.

        Lots of people with individual issues that they blame on a bug. People even blame hardware failures like the screen green line issue on software updates. A lot of “bugs” are simply quirks of individual users rather than actual bugs.

        Perhaps you can share some bugs that you’re talking about, listing out the few bugs they brought in the last few months? listing out 6 for the last 3 months should be simple, assuming at least 2 per month? I take it that you’re not making things up?

        30% of the touted of the pixel phones are touted as “coming soon”… and STILL coming soon a few months after launch. That’s what I mean by Google not selling complete phones. Not to mention, basic software bugs where people can’t answer calls, has wifi/bluetooth connetivity issues, unable to complete basic phone setup, home button not working, excessive tracking/battery drain - Most pixel phones have hundreds of outstanding bugs unfixed after years.

          Again, you’re not the main character bud. Every Samsung phone sub is littered with bugs and issues after every update. Samsung phones are the biggest offender when it comes to updates being bugged out. It’s not even an obscure thought, it’s a well known fact at this point. Samsung software is terrible. I don’t give a shit about the pixel. They were never good phones.

    I have s23u since release. Other than being an attempted fraud victim from the trade in program, this phone has no ‘hiccups’. It’s fast, smooth, and I use it as my primary trading vehicle for several accounts. Other than avoiding the trade-in program like the plague I would highly recommend it in the US at least

    I wouldn’t buy the S23U right now unless you could find a very good deal, as the S24U is just around the corner and is due for a bigger update. But for the S23U, it is a very good device. Out of all the recent S series phones, I would say it’s the best and most complete phone. Everything from the camera, performance and battery life is top level and one of the best you are going to find on any phone right now. For comparison my old iPhone 13 Pro feels slow compared to this.

    The OS experience is also nice although some people might not like One UI, I still think it’s a very solid user experience for most people. I don’t use Samsung pay, but Google Pay and any other banking app works just fine in my experience (make sure your bank support it though). Apart from Apple ecosystem related functionality, there isn’t really anything on iOS that can’t do on Android so you don’t have to worry about that.

      I think one ui is trash out the box but once you get into Goodlock and all its wonderful. Huge selling point for me.

    Absolute almost perfection.

    I have no issues at all with any apps. Only hiccup recent was with Spotify kept crashing but that’s an app problem not an OS issue I think.

    I’ve had zero problems with my Note10, S22U, or S23U. My S23U is fast compared to my 13 Pro Max which feels like it briefly has to think a second before doing something.

    I’ve owned a dozen iPhones back to 3GS and the Ultra is excellent.
