Jake Daniels, the UK's only openly gay active male professional footballer, speaks about his mental health, Jordan Henderson and the 18 months since coming out.
Henderson said yes to a ludicrously lucrative contract offer at the end of his playing career, just about every adult in the world who wasnt born rich would do the same for the sake of his family, but so did a lot of other players. Henderson is the only one singled out for criticism though, because he actually took a pro-lgbt stand in public, so the moral of this is to not support lgbt, yes?
Henderson was already earning about £5 million per year after tax when he was at Liverpool. Most people won’t earn £5 million in a lifetime. It’s clear he didn’t desperately need the money unless he pissed away all his wages from the last decade of football he’s played.
I’ll say it again.
Nobody would be complaining about Henderson if he didn’t use his platform to claim to support the rights and lives of lgbt people, like the rest of the players that went to Saudi.
But he did, for money him and his family probably would have been fine without, considering they are already millionaires.
All the Saudi drama has shown is that his alleged support will be thrown away the minute the right people throw him a bag of money.
It’s hardly safe for lgbt people around most of the world, and even still pretty sketchy in the places that are supposed to be safe.
How are we supposed to feel when Henderson, an ‘ally’ goes to play for a team funded by the Saudi government?
The same Saudi government that would have us be arrested for being in their country?
