Japan is the obvious candidate especially in the next word cup they’ve won 9 from last 12 games drawn once and only lost to Columbia having played Germany, Croatia, Uruguay, Tunisia, Turkey, Spain and thrashed Canada and Peru.
Their squad is cohesive, high energy unit and they have developing elite players, South Korea will be dangerous as well. I was in The USA in 1994 and the heat, humidity are a huge problem for players as is the vastness of the country.
This will be a world cup of the fittest and the freshest squad. If 26 players are allowed, I suspect that France, England, Spain, Brazil, Uruguay and Portugal to dominate as Argentina will be without Messi. If 23 man squads are mandated than Korea and Japan will be incredibly dangerous just because of their superior fitness levels.
Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco are all improving and will be more dangerous than ever but look to the last 2 or 3 youth and under 20 World champions, those players will be maturing at 2026.
