#🗒️Match Events
- 1st Half Begins
11’| HUGE ESCAPE FOR LIVERPOOL! What is Alisson doing? The Brazil goalkeeper turns in his own six-yard box before playing a dreadful pass straight into the feet of Foden. Van Dijk is on the scene to put pressure on the England international, who drags a weak finish into Alisson’s arms. Liverpool get lucky.
16’| GREAT SAVE, but the whistle had gone anyway! Matip steps out of defence to find Salah on the right-hand side, and he delivers a delicate cross on his left foot. Nunez glances it goalwards at the near post, only to see Ederson dive to his right to push it away. The referee penalises Liverpool as Jota attacks the rebound.
###27’|⚽Goal! Manchester City [1], Liverpool 0. Erling Haaland (Manchester City).
- GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL! HAALAND HAS 50 PREMIER LEAGUE GOALS IN RECORD TIME! Andy Cole’s record for the fastest half-century of Premier League goals falls as Haaland puts City ahead! It’s a poor decision from Alisson which kick-starts the move, with the goalkeeper slicing a poor kick out to Ake. He steps between Szoboszlai and Alexander-Arnold before finding Haaland, who makes no mistake as he finds the bottom-right corner on the turn! 1-0 to the champions!
44’| BIG SAVE! City go from back to front as Ederson picks out Silva with a clever pass into midfield. He turns to find Alvarez, who in turn picks out Foden in an inside-right position. The England man cuts inside before dragging a low shot towards the bottom-right corner, but Alisson gets down to tip it wide! Ake then commits a foul from the resulting corner.
45’+2’| First Half ends, Manchester City 1, Liverpool 0.
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 LIVERPOOL
- 2nd Half Begins
54’| Substitution, Liverpool. Ryan Gravenberch replaces Curtis Jones.
54’| Substitution, Liverpool. Luis Díaz replaces Diogo Jota because of an injury.
64’| DANGER! Doku sets off on another electrifying run, bursting past Alexander-Arnold to cross as Liverpool just manage to scramble it clear. It drops to Rodri 25 yards out, and his fierce drive hits Matip before flying just wide. Alisson was rooted to the spot!
68’| GOAL? Alvarez puts the corner directly on top of Alisson, who drops what should be an easy catch under pressure from Akanji, allowing Dias to tap home at the far post. However, the VAR will take a look at this one as Liverpool’s players furiously appeal for a foul on their goalkeeper. Let’s see which way the call goes…
69’| NO GOAL! A foul on Alisson is the decision, as Akanji looked to have a hand on the shoulder of the Liverpool goalkeeper as he went down in a heap. To be honest, he still should have dealt with that ball, and the Brazilian may have gotten away with that one!
70’| OVER, BUT THE FLAG IS UP! City win a free-kick around 30 yards out, which is beautifully delivered towards the far post by Silva. Rodri attacks it under little pressure and sends his diving header over the bar, only to be penalised for offside.
73’| Substitution, Liverpool. Cody Gakpo replaces Dominik Szoboszlai.
75’| 🟨 Darwin Núñez (Liverpool) is shown the yellow card
###80’| ⚽Goal! Manchester City 1, Liverpool [1]. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool).
- GOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLL! ALEXANDER-ARNOLD WITH A BRILLIANT EQUALISER! Liverpool level with 10 minutes to play as Salah offloads to Alexander-Arnold near the edge of the City area. A run from a team-mate creates space for the right-back, who steadies himself before drilling a great strike past Ederson’s dive and into the bottom-left corner! It’s all to play for now!
85’| Substitution, Liverpool. Wataru Endo replaces Alexis Mac Allister.
85’| Substitution, Liverpool. Harvey Elliott replaces Darwin Núñez.
86’| 🟨 Joël Matip (Liverpool) is shown the yellow card
89’|🟨 Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) is shown the yellow card.
90’| The Ref adds 8mins of injury time
FT’: Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool
Manchester City scorers: Erling Haaland (27’)
Liverpool scorers: Trent Alexander-Arnold (80’)
Ake was brilliant this game. Very solid in his duel against Salah, made some big tackles and recoveries, and created the first goal with some great creativity for a CB.
I’m actually surprised Ake didn’t get man of the match. Completely shut out Salah and created the first goal
Pep refuses to make one sub, again. Will complain about all the matches he has to play.
He’s good with the starting 11 but either doesn’t trust or doesn’t have the depth to make subs or he just can’t make adjustments tbhDid you see the city bench today? 2 keepers, a lb that’s hardly played, Philips, 2 youth players, an injured stones and gvardiol.
Who would you have brought on?
Who are we going to sub on?
6 players on the bench: 2 are goal keepers, 2 are defenders then Lewis and Bobb?
Kovacic, Nunes, Stones (bench but no play), Grealish and KDB injured.
We are missing a lot. We really needed another offensive midfielder but our target got a well timed gambling charge so thats done.
Once KDB comes back, Grealish stops being sick, Stone starts, Kovacic and Nunes for rotation and maybe Paqueta in January and suddenly its a different team.
Kovacic wasn’t there, and you’re not buying Paq in January
Considering the deal was basically done before the gambling charges appeared yeah I think they will.
And are the charges cleared?
Taking a very long time.
I am not sure what exactly the PL are investigating. No doubt they have asked Paqueta and the family member if they colluded. Presumably they have denied this so how exactly are the PL going to prove otherwise?
He doesn’t like to make subs even when he has players on the bench. That’s just who he is, also Philips ($$$) and Lewis (a lot more than just youth) aren’t nothing.
This game was terrible, should never have been a early kick off after a break
Anyone know where to find those 4th official nike jackets? Nice cut to them.
Games like these shows that City miss KDB he’s a master of the final pass
I thought this was supposed to be a big rivalry???🤣🤣
What happened between nunez and pep
Something about hair care routines.
Ya know, I’ll take a draw away against City. We just have to smash them at home now
This sub is so fickle. Doku had a good game, but judging from this sub you would think he played a shockingly bad game. The guy is 21 and showed a lot of promise. His end product is inconsistent, but his ability to beat his man is probably the best in the league atm.
