Hi all, currently looking to upgrade my very old and struggling S9+. I’m having a conundrum as the older gens are much lower in prices yet I’m not sure if they’re a better pick to current gens. I’m not from USA so here’s the prices converted to USD:
S21 Ultra 256GB: $435 S22+ 256GB: $592 S23 256GB: $663
Thoughts?
I would go with 21 ultra yes updates and chip but large screen and 4 cameras is hard to beat for me
Also not from the US, I went from s9 to s23 mainly because the s21 and s22 we have are exynos but s23 are snapdragon. The rumor is that the s24 will be going back to exynos so the s23 is our best and only chance for us non-USians to upgrade and nab that sweet snapdragon!
S21 Ultra is my favorite phone from latest samsung. Love the form factor and feel in hand.
Disregard people who ask about exynos or snapdragon, real life difference is negligible unless you do all your work from phone. The phone will still work for a day, the photos will still be great, gaming is still also good, responsiveness will be top notch.
Why Ultra? Mainly because of cameras. You get full 0.6x, 1x, 3x, 10x system. The quality of photos still good and not much different from 22 and 23 Ultras, and I believe, they are better than non ultra 22 and 23. If you don’t use camera, the only big difference for you is size and design.
S22+ vs S23 is the same, the main difference is size and desing. Plus has quicker fast charging and bigger battery. Both phones have nice cameras with max 3x optical zoom. There are small improvements in s23, but they are not deal breakers.
Honestly, if s21 had 3x camera, it would still be a good device now. Latest generations have mostly incremental changes and new design.
From Ultra you will want to upgrade only to next Ultra, plus and non plus version just stop existing. And right now there is no enough reason to upgrade, unless the phone breaks. And if I got it correctly, common s23 is 1.5x more expensive than still good Ultra phone.
If I hadn’t totalled my S21U I’d still use it and be happy. Right now I’m using S22U, and the main difference is form factor, I didn’t feel any big improvements. Maybe, if they improve telephoto cameras on S24U, there will be reason to upgrade, but right now S21U is still pretty good premium phone.
The 8 gen 2 chip in S23 gives it a huge advantage in battery life and performance
Completely agree with everything you said. S21 Ultra 🔛🔝
S23 Easily wins in terms of batter life.
Hey! I had this conundrum at the beginning of the year. I also had a s9plus and I waited until s23ultra was released on February. I am really satisfied with it. It is a big decision… so if you are able to buy it or wait until s24 ultra (also on feb 2024) that would be the best jump you would do.!
S21 Ultra or 23 or 23+ ;)
S21 Ultra easiest choice ever.
S21 ultra. I had a S21 and upgraded to the S23 ultra. There’s not much of a difference.
Are the SOC snapdragon or exynos?
If it’s snapdragon s22u would be a decent pick else s23.
I agree. Get the S22U if it is Snapdragon. Or else wait for the S24U.
Both the Snapdragon 8G1 and Exynos 2200 are trash in terms of efficiency. Like, yeah the Exynos is slightly worse cause Samsung sucks at SoC design, but they’re both made on Samsung Foundries’s 4 nm process, which downright sucks compared to TSMC’s 4 nm process
S23. 8 gen2 chip is excellent, plus the s23 has faster storage speeds.
S21 ultra
hi need help in deciding s22+ or s23 fe
Is S23+ an option? Also is the S22+ in your region the snapdragon or exynos chip version?
