Hi all,
I’m currently working on a project to set up a backyard office. I’m moving all my networking gear there, including my Dream Machine SE and u6-pro AP, which are currently located in my house (marked by a red diamond in the image I’ll image below).
My plan involves running a coax cable (yellow line in the image) around my house to the new office, and then digging a trench (about 10 feet, marked in green) to lay conduit from my house to the office. That’s where I’ll reconnect my networking equipment.
Here’s where I need your wisdom: How do I best get WiFi back into my main house? Originally, I thought about running an Ethernet cable through the same conduit back to my house (to a spot marked as the pink box) and hooking it up to a U6-mesh unit using a PoE port from the DM se. Do you think that will be enough to cover my 1,700 sqft, 2-story home? It currently works fine with the setup at the red diamond spot, so I guess it should work… but I’m not sure if the u6-mesh is the best option for this scenario. What do you guys think? Any advice or alternative suggestions?
