I’ve got a pretty simple question, I’m looking to buy a digital picture frame for my fiance’s bedroom and was on the fence about going with 1920x1080 vs a 1280x800 one. I’m not really familiar with anything like this but all of our pictures are taken with iPhones released in the past 2-3 years if that gives an idea of the quality of pictures we’re taking. Is there a reason to spend the extra money for the 1920x1080, is the difference substantial enough or is it pretty minor for the kinds of pictures we are taking?
How big is the Frame? Look at the PPI - that’s what is going to matter
You won’t notice the difference in a 4inch 720 vs 1080 vs 4k but you will at 60 inches.
For tl;dr, definitely take the FullHD one.
In slightly longer, it also depends on the physical size of the screen. If it’s the size of a playing card, 1280x800 will do. If it is larger than a phone I’d say you will certainly notice the difference between the two; if your picture frame is the size of an iPad mini or above, you absolutely will notice the difference.
If the price difference is huge, that’s obviously a tradeoff, but if the price difference isn’t too big a kick in the wallet it’s worth the higher quality.
(For what this is worth, phone photos have greatly exceeded that resolution for a long, long time. Modern iPhones shoot quite amazing photos; can certainly see why you want to showcase them. 😃)
