saka is truly world class and so has still managed to produced near enough a contribution every game but you see (despite still having incredible talent) with martinelli, whether the cf is jesus or eddie or kai or trossard he has struggled to take off like last season.
this is where a lot of people’s argument for moving martin to the left / making vieira our lcm stems from, as it puts him on his strong foot to play through passes to martinelli. he should be getting chances like that first goal vs liverpool at the emirates or his offside finish vs everton a lot more.
Martinelli in general could have a different role to maximise his effectiveness, i mean what would you say is the best role for someone who is lighning quick, a great finisher, excellent technically and has an engine that henry ford would be jealous of? We essentially have a brazillian hueng-min son and the team is set up for him to play like jack grealish.
As opposed to Odegaard on the right where he can play Martinelli through passes and do everything else he does?

I mean, if you’re talking about form, I don’t think the ‘long term’ is reasonably in the picture here.
In the fulness of time, Rice will probably mature as a 6 for us, in which capacity his abilities as an 8 will continue to be part of what makes him great in that role-- and make an such a good 8 in the meantime.
