I currently have an Asus AiMesh setup using Ax6600’s with a router and 3 nodes. 2 of which are connected via Ethernet and placed about 250ft away from main router. Recently my non-wired node has lost its backbone connection twice and add to be reset and re-added.
Then today my main router decided it wanted to basically reset to factory on its own and I had to basically start over and re-configure the whole setup and all nodes. Took several hours to troubleshoot and getting Internet working again.
I am looking to switch to more of a pro-sumer setup, but not sure what is recommended.
I want the latest in wifi tech and would really want something that can integrate with network switches to show the whole network picture. I have Gibibit service at my house. I don’t have space for anything rack mounted where my modem is.
Any thoughts?
Is flashing Asus merlin or openwrt an option? Not sure about the mesh nodes though. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this feasibility.
I’m one of those people into Omada. Yes it’s not sleek and shiny like unifi but it does an incredibly similar job for a cheaper price. Reliability has been very good for me. No returns or issues yet 🤞
For you I’d start with https://www.tp-link.com/uk/business-networking/omada-router-integrated-router/er7212pc/ it can easily be hidden away.
Add a https://www.tp-link.com/uk/business-networking/omada-wifi-ceiling-mount/eap650/
And / Or

And your away. Add another any APs you need to the POE switch on the router.
If you want recommendations on a switch let us know how many ports you need.
