Incredibly unlikely to do it playing in the Premier League, but at Real Madrid playing in La Liga or at Bayern Munich back in the Bundesliga, could Haaland give it a good go at breaking Messi’s ridiculous 2012 record?

Realistically he’d have to score 50+ league goals, 10-15+ UCL goals, 10-15+ National team goals and 20+ in other competitions… But if Norway were to have a good euro / world cup qualifiers and Haaland’s future club had a pretty good league, domestic cup and UCL campaign like Barca did in 2012, is it possible?

I mean probably not, even if he does it won’t be as iconic because Messi would dribble the whole team, Halaand is very good but a lot of the goals he scores are tap in’s (I’m not saying I could do better tap ins take good positioning too) but Messi would dribble a whole team.

That’s the key factor. Messi would score so many goals based on assists, and a whole lot of “fuck it, I’ll do it myself” goals.

I could see Erling scoring as many assists, or even more in his current team. But he’ll have to score a whole lot more to compensate for the solo goals.

I could see Mbappe getting close to that, specially considering his current national team performing so well. And, to be honest, a lot of the shitty competition Euro qualifiers tend to have.
