I’m curious - why do you pick Samsung compared to other smartphone brands? (Google Pixel, iPhone, OnePlus, etc.)

(I’m also going to be asking in other phone subs, hope this survey goes well)

I’m old enough to where Samsung was really the only decent alternative to Apple and Apple is too controlling for my taste. That being said I’ve tried HTC and LG and they never seemed there technology wise. LG towards the end tried to be too gimmicky which basically means their phone isn’t very good.

I am familiar with the camera and the Bluetooth codec, but more than anything, I love the display these phones have and how vibrant the colors look.

Used China phones for most of my life. They are usually filled with shit ui and bugs.

When Samsung came out with OneUI, I finally took the chance because the UI is such a big deal.

Laziness. I’ve used Galaxy since the OG Galaxy S and I don’t want to move all my shit to another platform.

Tbh I might do so anyway fairly soon. I can’t speak for the rest of the market - tbh I’m probably in a small minority - but I’m not really seeing any good reasons to stay with Samsung or get another Android flagship at this point. No more headphone jack so I have to use inferior overpriced bluetooth trash, no more easily replaceable battery, no more unlockable bootloader for custom ROMs, no more open source advantage (One UI is as closed source as IOS and that’s pretty much the case with all of the big android players - they’ve been using closed source proprietary modifications of android for years now), side loading is becoming more and more limited, no more microSD slot which means no more sane options to increase storage, and now apparently they’re about to take away 10x optical zoom. 10 years ago I was ride-or-die Android but in that time they’ve taken away pretty much every single reason to use one of their devices over an iPhone.

Unless something changes dramatically, my next phone is almost certainly going to be an iPhone pro max, next tablet almost certainly an iPad Pro (possible exception here if flagship Galaxy Tabs keep the micro sd slot).

    One word.

    DEX

I’ve spent years with Samsung. I have had the LG V series multiple times. I’ve had a wahway (spelt wrong on purpose) and at work I have dealt with blackberries, pixels, iPhones and now Samsungs.

Until the S21 I appreciated that they still had a SD card and headphone jack. Now I just get them because they always have the most powerful hardware on the market and they aren’t using false advertising like other companies to sell their phones.

But on my S8 when I discovered DEX its been one of my main reasons for always keeping a Samsung phone on me even if I was using one from another brand.

I use samsung because I have owned apple products and hate them, Because of their forced obsolescence, The inability to modify them on the software level, And being unable to repair them cheaply.
