How many in the arsenal squad are world class? Define WC and list:

For me world class means the player would not look out of place starting for Citeh, Barca, RM or Bayern.

Saliba , Saka, Odegaard and Rice.

Depends on the definition of world class. It has to be quantifiable to be equally applied to all. For example, being in top 1, 2 or 5% of all ballers based on Transfermarkt evaluations. All the rest are subjective, biased and emotional.

I consider real world class top 5 in the world in their position.

Rice probably slips in there, saka maybe, don’t know about other two

I think that’s typically how I define it too. Saka is easily a top 5 RW. Saliba is easily a top 5 CB. Rice is easily a top 5 DM

Not really sure they do. He wasn’t better than Modric or Kroos when they sold him and he isn’t better than Valverde or Bellingham now.

Madrid have sold of loads of very high quality players in the past, players that would be stars at other clubs are regularly deemed surplus to requirements there. The bar they have for who makes it there is probably higher than any other club in the world.

I think it’s hard to argue that players are world class when they’re playing their first CL. Their performances over the next few years will determine their status.

For now they’re very good players

Saliba and Rice would definitely count I think. Odegaard and Saka maybe a bit more debatable but I wouldn’t go against you on it. Martinelli, Jesus and the like are probably one cut below ‘world class’.

Ode has just been injured/ not great this season. Last year he was one of the best players in the league.

If Martinelli adds more goals to his locker, which given his age he’s very capable of, he’ll be in the discussion.

My definition: world-class is a player that’s either the best in his position in the world or very close to the best player in this position.
For example, you could argue that Harry Kane is the best striker in the world right now (and that’s coming from an Arsenal fan!), but Haaland obviously deserves the same label.
With that in mind, I would say Saka, Rice, and Saliba are there. Odegaard and Martinelli are very close, I think Ben White was in that second group last season too.
