I need some help with what to look for here. I understand what function I want but as always it’s a bit tricky with the terminology and what to look for.

To keep it simple:

I want to temporarily set a 4G router next to a device, connect the device to the router LAN, and then remotely access the device via the LAN.

  1. 4G router

  2. Device on router LAN

  3. PC to connect remotely to router LAN

This is just to keep an eye on a specific device during a shorter time period and then bring it back until I want to set it up with another device in a different place.

What exactly am I after here to keep it as simple and flexible as possible while still being reasonably secure (relatively speaking since it won’t connect to any other network)?

Appreciate any advice.

Thank you!

not really clear what you’re asking for, to be honest.

So it doesn’t matter per se whether it’s a 4g router, other than the fact that a lot of those services won’t give you a publicly routable IP. Is this device a windows or Mac device? You can use things like Chrome remote desktop to completely obviate the need for anything particularly fancy.

It’s not a pc and I don’t want to remote desktop to keep it as simple as possible.

It’s a “PLC” that would be wired to the router on LAN. I’m only wanting a 4G router to get internet with a simcard.

Basically I want a router on site connected to the internet and then I want to remotely connect to the LAN of the router. I suppose the device is irrelevant information in this scenario.

      Is that any clearer?
