From what I have read online, the 14900k is expected to have as little as 4% increased performance, up to 8%. With direct storage becoming hyped, I am not sure this upgrade is significant enough. When I looked at the scores for single and multicore estimates, it was barely a noticeable difference between the two.

I already have the best GPU available for gaming, video editing, and displays for my second job (trading).

Thinking about waiting for the 5000 series cards before doing any upgrades and a completely new build if direct storage becomes mainstream for PC gaming.
