Ottawa police are investigating a Saturday night shooting at a wedding reception that left two Toronto men dead and injured six others.

The deaths were Ottawa’s 11th and 12th homicides in 2023.

Just to add a bit of context to that number:
Ottawa, with a homicide rate of 1.34 for every 100,000 people, ranked ninth out of the 12 largest cities in Canada. The city recorded 15 homicides last year, up from 12 in 2020.
“At this stage, there is no indication that this was a hate-motivated shooting.”
Aren’t all shootings/murders pretty much hate motivated?
