A new #Minecraft snapshot 24w14potato appeared, adding an entire new dimension, blocks, mobs, paintings and many more. All of them, poisonous 🥔 themed.
Are poisonous potatoes the best Minecraft food? Who exactly is Potatolord of the Fried Legion? We may or may not learn answers to these questions with this very snapshot.
As usual, check out #MinecraftWiki page covering the snapshot, updated as we learn more at https://minceraft.wiki/w/Java_Edition_24w14potato
Mojang when making a one day long april fools joke : 👨🔬👩💻👩🏭👨🔧👷
Mojang when making a regular update : 😴😴😴😴😴
Real reason is the bigwigs basically choke and scrutinise every tiny change. But april fools snapshots aren’t subjected to that. They have actually used it to trial real features.
Not to mention there’s no need to have parity with bedrock or any extensive bug testing.
I saw a moving block concept. Won’t be surprised if that makes it into the final game in some stage. Remember the random dimension snapshot? That code was basically re used to add custom dimensions in for mapmakers to utilise. And an old april fools snapshot added stained glass, horses, coal blocks, etc.
Isn’t this what snapshots are for? Let the community test things and report issues?
I want this to be real so bad 😭
It’s ironically one of the more exciting ideas to come out of Mojang in a long time … and that speaks volumes lol
Minecraft: suggesting content and then flipping you off and only giving you some of it because they said so.
Also there’s April Fools jokes, unrelated.
@MinecraftWikiEN @minecraft My favorite is of course Lashing Potato which is just a grappling hook, but such a great utility for movement.
Game theorists, start placing your bets on which features of this April Fools snapshot may eventually make it into an actual game experience (in some shape or form, preferably with potato parts peeled off).
April Fools snapshots were always a great testbed for future additions to #Minecraft and allow developers to experiment with wild and rough ideas in safe environment while quietly observing player feedback.
@MinecraftWikiEN @minecraft finally, the Mumbo Jumbo update!
@MinecraftWikiEN I’m staying schtum
