I was thinking this too. It’s definitely possible but one thing that prevents me from going all in on this theory is that it’s a bit late to reveal this information now. Chumpsky has been anti-US on this topic for a while now. Doing this more than a year into this war seems a bit ineffective.
Unless it’s not the position of Chomsky but the position of FBI changed about this since last year. For example recent arresting of the black activists and general decay into fascism. Year is a a lot of time, remember year ago we were obsering the rapid degeneration of mainstream media into nazi apologia and saying “a year ago it was impossible”.
Note how this gets mentioned exactly when Chomsky started to have some weak but accurate critiques of US war in Ukraine.
