The stupid Netflix button on my “Toblerone” remote is constantly getting accidentally pushed. (Sometimes I think just walking too close to it sets it off.)
Are there aftermarket options for a remote to use with my Shield TV? I realize now how much better laid-out the remote for my old Roku was.
You could try cheap Chinese ones, but they are not better than Nvidia’s most recent model.
You could remap the Netflix button with the Button Mapper app to do nothing, this is the best workaround, also you could change it for something else, like Plex, and even put sticker on it if you want to!
I have button mapper change netflix to mute the volume - which it does but, it also brings up the damn netflix screen. Repeat process to unmute. Guess I’ve not quite got the hang of it. 🤔
Yeah you don’t have it well, I have it to single press do nothing, double press open op Plex and hold press to open Netflix, that way I avoid the worse of the button and keep it usable.
Interesting - so keep Netflix in the loop - just not forefront … I’ll try it later, thanks.
You are welcome!
While I don’t have a remote recommendation for you, I have used the app Button Mapper for a few years now and I’ve liked it.
I have remapped the Netflix button (opens Shield settings) and the circle button (opens FLauncher) and have never had an issue with the button presses doing something I didn’t want. I’d recommend you give it a try until you find a remote that suits you better.

I’m not set on a third-party remote…I’m just tired Netflix opening at inopportune moments. I’ll definitely look into your suggestion, thanks! 👍
@wilberfan There are button remapper apps available for the shield that let you change what the Netflix button does. I remapped mine to open Plex, for example.
Then you if you combine it with something like this… I think you get it.
