So I only listened to english audiobooks and now I’m interested in getting physical copy of the books. Do you have experience with Witcher books in other languages and how does the translation fare?

Czech. Didn’t read any else. Can’t compareto the original but I’d say the translations are great. Dwarves use a specific dialect that just works perfectly and I love it.

There are some issues with translating Jaskier’s name in a way that they had to rename Triss and mistranslating Roach. But I those arethings you don’t really relize. Made it confusing going into the games in English though.

I guess I will try books on Croatian. Not sure if they are translated from English version or original but I guess most of the slavic languages should be similar.

I’d expect them to be translated from the original. Actually, I’m pretty sure Croatian translation would’ve been done sooner than English. Books were a classic in Slavic countries way before games which prompted English translations
