Not the official website. Please be warned.
This is the official revanced website: https://revanced.app/
And their github: https://github.com/revanced
It looks like the OP’s link has been updated.
Gotta love federation issues. Still seeing the original version over on the instance I use.
Which link does it point to?
“ReVanced dot net” which is not the official page and has a nonzero chance of being malicious.
Question: I tried about a month ago to get this going and it seemed like it wouldn’t work for YouTube unless my phone was rooted. Am I missing something?
Microg services
*vanced microg services, fdroid has it
I have F-Droid, but don’t see vanced microg. https://search.f-droid.org/?q=microg
Edit: I added the repository and it says the microg stuff is already installed: https://microg.org/download.html
Edit2: as @scottmeme@sh.itjust.works said here, I had to download the YouTube apk.
Edit3: I can patch the downloaded apk, but still working on installing it.
Edit4: Getting the error “App not installed as package conflicts with an existing package.”
Edit5: I think I’m going to have to get ADB going on my computer in order to uninstall the original YouTube from my phone. You have to enable the patch to give revanced a different name
So far I’ve been able to patch a downloaded .apk, but I can’t install the patched .apk. Are you saying I should be renaming something?
It’s in the manager, “custom branding” i think it is. It’s one of the patches.
Alternately if you can uninstall actual YouTube that solves it too.
Ok, thanks for the additional guidance. I don’t see anything like that, so I remain stuck haha.
I had to download the APK from apkmirror, and build it from local storage. Worked perfectly fine after that.
you probably get more features with root, but i’ve been running it rootless since vanced
Yeah Vanced worked for me rootless. I’ll try again and see what happens.
have you turned on micro-g while building?
Yes, I’ve figured it out now. I explain here where I went wrong.
I was tired of using MicroG services so I switched to LibreTube
