Short answer copy-pasted from weekly thread:
Oddly sexual; gives off Darling in the Franxx vibes
Nice, the misunderstanding was resolved in one chapter. I’ve never enjoyed plotlines that revolve around misunderstandings, even if they are for comedy.
I felt that this chapter is ok.
Like, nobody would expect the MC to be killed off and be replaced by another (or for the story to straight up end here). So naturally, one would expect MC to awaken to her powers and come out on top.
This is such a common trope that I have seen this chapter’s development coming a mile away. Not complaining though, since I enjoy it anyway.
Also, the commander whose plan involved sacrificing her subordinate makes her out to be a potential villain / antagonist, but I won’t be surprised if the manga does a bait-and-switch. I’m betting the real villains are some adults manipulating these girls into dying for their sake Gundam-style.
As usual, MC is the chosen one. I don’t mind this overused trope though.
Glad to see that the manga is back from hiatus.
Anyway, when someone makes a promise like this, you know it’s going to come up again. I just hope it won’t be anything tragic.
Somehow, the ceiling transformed along with her:
I’m not surprised, given the direction of the last few chapters.
Looks like surprising someone follows the same principle as (conventional) shooting: best to double-tap
Perhaps I’ll give it another go.
Did anything surprise you?
I wasn’t planning on picking this series up because Too Many Losing Heroines is the antithesis of Zero Losing Heroines. But then I saw the endorsement given by Shinkai Makoto and decided to give it a shot.
And it became my dark horse of the season. It’s real good, and it certainly resembles Shinkai’s works. In fact, I won’t be surprised if some of the staff working on it used to work for Shinkai.
The humor, the art style, the characters and the story were all superb. It is now one of my potential top favorites.
disappoint you?
I thought it would be absurdly funny. I ended up absurdly bored. Dropped early-mid way through.
Terminator 0 - Very good. It raised my expectation of adaptations of mainstream / non-anime shows. Looking forward to the Lord of the Rings anime now.
The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies - Would likely have dropped if not for its episodes being only 12 minutes long, ending before I get bored of it. More anime should learn from this IMO. It does have its entertaining moments, but that’s it. Upon completion, my rating for the Magical Girls theme on AniList would drop from 100%.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian - It should have kept comedy as its focus instead of drama. I was really close to dropping it, but ended up completing it because there’s only 1-2 episodes left (and even then, I fast-forwarded through some scenes). I would likely not pick up the second season.
No Longer Allowed in Another World - I don’t vibe with this MC.
My Wife Has No Emotion - MC is wimpier than I remembered.
Quality Assurance in Another World - I don’t vibe with this MC.
Rick and Morty: The Anime - I don’t have the patience for the pay-off / reveal, and the earlier parts are not entertaining enough.
Pseudo Harem - Got bored.
Senpai is an Otokonoko - Got bored.
A Place Further Than the Universe - It’s ok. Not too entertaining, but just enough for me to not be bored. 7 / 10
A rather laid-back season for me, which is good. It gave me time to finally watch some all-time popular shows, such as:
Picked up Love Bullet because of the news surrounding its potential cancellation, and boy, it’s good.
Edit:
Also just picked up A Story About Taking in A Strange Creature
Forget the couple - I find it more amazing that their supporters meet up at the same spot in the carriage every morning without fail.
Edit:
I have only just picked it up thanks to news about it. One chapter in, and I’m thinking
I sure hope it gets saved from being axed
Not a medical professional, but I thought surgery is supposed to be the last resort. Perhaps the doctor determined that the symptoms are that severe.
Also, I kinda ignored it previously in this series because the situations tend to be emergencies, but shouldn’t he inform the patients about the risk of surgery before getting their consent?
Lastly, I thought Carpal Tunnel is a programmer’s thing, so I was quite surprised to learn that it is indeed a common affliction for blacksmiths (or any occupation that uses their hands a lot). As usual, this author did their homework.
Is **ODDTAXI** underrated?
IMO it is rated.
It’s got a good rating, which it deserves. Perhaps it is underwatched though.
Thanks for the work.
I propose replacing [RT!] with another tag. Right now, it’s being used by to recommend people to read a manga. IMO it can be more general-purposed, and be used to tag posts in which people are asking for recommendations as well.
Also, “Read This!” doesn’t make as much sense for anime, if we want a consistent tag for both communities.
The most straightforward replacement is [Recommendation], but it’s long and a pain in the ass to type. Gotta check a thesaurus.
Her intelligence is still low after the transformation😭
Based on the difference between average score and my rating on AniList, some of my favourite underrated anime of 2020s are (sorted from largest to smallest delta):
number | title | year | average score | my rating | delta |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Cells at Work!! Season 2 | 2021 | 7.2 | 10 | 2.8 |
2 | BELLE | 2021 | 7.3 | 10 | 2.7 |
3 | BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense. | 2020 | 7.4 | 10 | 2.6 |
4 | Gushing Over Magical Girls | 2024 | 7.4 | 10 | 2.6 |
5 | Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! | 2024 | 7.4 | 10 | 2.6 |
6 | The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You | 2023 | 7.7 | 10 | 2.3 |
7 | Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 1 | 2022 | 7.8 | 10 | 2.2 |
8 | Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2 | 2023 | 7.8 | 10 | 2.2 |
9 | The Demon Girl Next Door Season 2 | 2022 | 7.8 | 10 | 2.2 |
10 | TERMINATOR ZERO | 2024 | 7.1 | 9 | 1.9 |
From what I observed, the higher the rating for a show, the more likely I am to like it (and give it a high score)
Not sure how to take popularity into account. How do we judge if a show is underwatched anyway?
