I think drunk drivers make it unsafe for every pedestrian regardless of their soberity. I see kids, adults, and seniors all crossing a busy intersections in a relatively small town every morning. Nearly every day i see a near miss fron a driver turning right on red and nearly hitting a very visibile pedestrian crossing in the crosswalk while they have the right to cross. And most of these drivers arent even drunk or impaired, many of them are texting though.

Most often, the driver is looking up the road to ensure the traffic lanes are clear but many forget to also ensure the crosswalk is clear. What really bothers me is when most drivers almost hit someone, including seniors or children, they honk and throw their hands up as if that pedestrian is the asshole. At least the honk might give someone just enough time to avoid being hit.

This doesn’t help the people already stuck. On these drugs, homeless, and dealing with the mental health issues that come with that is a huge burden, even if we fixed the issuess that push people into these addictions, they may not be able to get out of these situations on their own. Things like getting housed or employed become increasingly difficult when homeless and addicted. Ideally these involuntary treatments include housing treated people and assisting them in getting their own housing and employment.

Most people i know that prefer bottled water prefer it because of the chlorine taste in their city tap water. Most bottled water goes through several processess including softening or reverse osmosis which can impact the taste quite a bit. They often remineralize the bottled water and add flouride as well. They do make undersink reverse osmosis systems for people who have taste or odor concerns from their tap water, essentially getting a similar quality to bottled out of a tap.

At least a subway/train is accessible to nearly everyone. Driving isn’t accessible to some disabilities, people under 16, people too old to safely drive, and people unable to afford a car.

Decades of research has now proven that more lanes does not fix traffic and in many cases can actually make traffic worse. Why are we still wasting money on ineffective infrastructure? Whats next 3 tunnels, a surface level highway, then 3 raised highways above it?

I didn’t know anybody at the company i got hired at. I was giving them some business and asked them some pretty specific questions. The secretary joked wow you want a job and i said well maybe and went from there. Months of writing resumes and cover letters then i get a job the old fasioned way by walking in with a smile and a handshake.

You are right in many ways still, there is some truth to the saying “it is not what you know, but who you know.”

I job searched for 8 months with many of my smartest friends with good jobs helping me write resumes and cover letters for each job. I applied to jobs nearly every day, usually having some experience in the field and a relevant college diploma. Even the “urgently hiring” positions that were up for months didnt reply to me.

I ended up getting a job at a local business through word of mouth that they were hiring. When i submitted my resume the team said they didn’t even read it. The algorithms and AI used in hiring are probably hurting these companies more than they are helping.

My parents got pet insurance the first day they adopted a puppy. Within a week he had blood in his urine and the insurance refused to cover it. Then he got his toe cut and infected, again the insurance refused to cover it. They also said future issues with legs, gait, walking or anything that can be linked to the amputated toe won’t be covered. If pet insurance doesn’t cover medical issues or injuries, what the hell does it cover?

They have to pay the fine back to people who all paid the fee right???

I agree with banning smartphones during classes. They are incredibly distracting and I know i didn’t understand the real value of that free education until well after I had graduated.

I also think less dependence on social media for staying in touch and communicating could help reduce loneliness and some of the depression and anxiety some people face. If we are less connected at our fingertips to people, we are more inspired to see and connect with them in person, which in my experience is more fullfilling.

I’ve always understood it as going both ways. Someone you call your own, they also get to have you as their own. I’m all yours, and you’re all mine. I’ve viewed it as a way of expressing desire and commitment.

Weed isn’t illegal in my country. It is also unsafe for them and others to be driving so unsafely and there is no other service that can intervene with them.
