Flicks flaw was he though he could run it the way he did bayern, but that group had been together for so long and so much chemistry. Everyone knew their role in the club, the leaders were defined, the football was well defined and you knew how bayern were going to play, and it was unstoppable.

What benefited Germany for so long was a seamless transition of players. It seemed as though as players got older and were on the decline, they were still present to reinforce culture and the were replaced by players who knew what was expected based on their predecessors. We never saw Boateng and Hummels pass the torch because they were excluded, and now the defending of Germany really has no identity.

I actually think that the 35 Yr olds Hummels and Boateng would be a better pair than anything we have seen so far, obviously never going to happen. This group can still win the Euros but it will have to come from an entire overhall within german football. The question is can Nagelsmann be the one to orchestrate this change.
