  • Yeah. It’s a but like Manic Pixie Dream Girl. It was used to describe a specific terrible character in a bad movie where she had no other role other than to appear when needed and be perfect for the scene and the main character to fix him ignoring any character consistency or growth, but then it became an insult to just women and then its own joke.

We complained about the shitty comic cause it was jarring and weird as a way to handle a serious issue and it being so distasteful was the point. And it’s been eroded as just a reference to be made now for the sake of the reference.

Meaning and origin break down with iteration. We either need to let it die and stop responding to it or work to fix it.

  • So this has been true of YouTube Red since the beginning. It’s one if the reasons I got it. But they use watch time as the way to divide your money out. It actually makes it extremely unfair split for people that make great but short content. It’s also why longer content became more popular around that time and those 24/7 streams run like that.

Also why creators started doing channels of just padded run time content of like building legos and eating things. It’s to secure better and funding.

The current setup is pretty busted and feels like the wheels are coming off again.

  • Oh I was gonna call out All Summer in a Day cause holy fuck Ray Bradbury has some issues with kids…

I mean he is right too but damn those stories stick with you. And also did that and basically all the ones you pointed out as a “gifted class”. Do you think they literally had just 1 syllabus for us weird kids for the whole nation to try and scare us back into line or what? Cause, seems like we all getting traumatized by stories of death and emotional torture at like 11 by the same stories.

Oh man and we wonder why the liberal arguments aren’t winning over struggling low class Americans in suburban towns.

Yeah, I understand you don’t give a shit, that’s my point.
You don’t even care to deal with the actual story and meat of an issue before hand waving it away and blaming racism that makes you feel superior while having done nothing not even think about the actual people involved.

It makes you useless as even an empathetic ear which is bare minimum people usually want.

You aren’t superior for this stance.

I am seeing it. I’m just not ignoring that there is in fact an interesting base for all this in order to focus on the part the racists without policy are using to push their agenda and that the liberals are ignoring cause it’s complicated and easier to focus on the racists attempt to use to belittle them without doing anything.

No it started with a hodunk town being stressed by its changing landscape that is putting stress on its local residents and the Haitians that are moving there creating a powder keg of stressed resources like housing, traffic and jobs, being used as a political tool.

I understand that people are using this to use to point at generalized black people and racism (just look at you) but there is a legitimate story and starting seed for this that starts before the pandering that is happening now.

Problems can exist before you see the smoke and the problem is not the smoke but the potential fire that somehow does seem to be ignored by everyone who’d rather talk around it.

  • Yeah, I find straight up abandoning your shit family is a not completely bad idea.

You’d be surprised at the jobs out there that simply let you get on a train or a boat and simply leave it all behind if you want to.

Just please then don’t jump off the back of my boat. The point is that it might be lonelier than guaranteed family but ocean is a bad way to go.

    Uhh no.

I mean it is literally about Haitians though, as the city of Springfield Ohio already had been incentivizing cheap import labor to take over for the American labor that had left and wouldn’t work for low wages.

Literally, a guaranteed work status and easy entry because of destabilizing forces in Haiti has meant a huge influx to the point that now more than 1 in 4 residents in Springfield are in fact Haitian.

It doesn’t mean that outlandish stories to create fear and tension are a good idea but just casually changing the details to say it’s about black people is you also trying to push a narrative on a struggling city with many real issues that are its own.
