  • This might be an unpopular opinion but new handball rules (alongside next years champions league format and even FFP if we wanna go that far) are all designed to favour the biggest teams. UEFA don’t want a competitive competition, they want one they can manage.

    Generally speaking, better teams attack more, have more touches in opposition box and therefore earn more penalties. Extend this to the new interpretation of handball in UCL and I don’t see how this doesn’t favour the best teams. I’m sure UEFA much prefer when the big teams make it through to the knockouts every year to help keep money flowing.

    Or maybe there’s no ulterior motive…but I’m struggling to come up with a reason for the change.
