It’s worth listening to the price of football episode on this where they go into what Everton tried to do and got caught doing. Everton are claiming they’ve been open and honest but they haven’t. That isn’t to excuse any other teams of wrongdoing.

Everton were caught lying on financial documents about how the new stadium is funded as they knew they were overspending and had previous warnings about their finances before that. They were in the wrong and admitted fault. Everton can argue that if they are punished other teams in the league should be as well. They can’t argue they did nothing wrong or were simply naive

That’s how it should be but particularly when it comes to premier league clubs they don’t do what they’re supposed to. Teams in the championship and below do get punished regularly and more swiftly for breaking the rules. Realistically I don’t think any team is getting close to £100mil from Everton.
