  • I went to Dortmund in October (for the 2nd time) but this time caught two teams…

We landed in Dortmund from London Stansted, took a bus from stansted which is €10 to Dortmund HBF. It was really simple.

The first game was monchengladbach vs mainz on the Friday night so we got an hour train to cologne (beautiful city btw) spent the day there, then travelled from cologne to mgbach for the game (1hour).

8:15pm ko so The journey back from monchengladbach is quite long, but trains run late. Took about 2.5 hours and we got back to hotel for around 2am.

The Dortmund game was 3pm or so on the Saturday, vs Union Berlin. Fantastic atmosphere and full of goals.

But I’m aware you say less obvious, the region is blessed with football. Say you went Thursday to Sunday - you could theoretically catch a Europa league game on Thursday in Leverkusen, catch Schalke/Bochum/frankfurt/Dortmund/monchengladbach/Koln on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday fixture dependent. It would take a bit of planning but tickets are easy to get and I could help you get Dortmund tickets if you wanted.
