It's not so bad. I don't think our government gave them a lot of cash assistance up front from what I read. More like relief for start-up period.
Company halts construction of $2.7B battery project in eastern Ontario
After breaking ground in 2023, the company building a plant to produce battery components for electric vehicles in a municipality near Kingston, Ont., says it's delaying construction of the plant citing a slowdown in EV sales.
Yeah it is egregious. The original deal was already a sham because for giving up huge swaths of land they are only getting paid $4 per head per year for 1400 people. This is essentially a lease of $5,600 for 100,000 square kilometers of land. Which includes Thunder Bay, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury. These people were manipulated into giving up their land, and we can't even honor the original scam.
Has Montreal's cityscape changed much? haven't been there in a few years.

Myanmar’s junta has ordered its staff to leave the northern Shan State capital Lashio following the ongoing offensive by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and its allies.
An estimated 150,000 people have fled to Mandalay from the region’s northern townships and adjacent Shan State since Operation 1027 resumed in late June. Rents have doubled in one month.
This is only for 2015! What about now? Price of bread is ridiculous.
Myanmar regional military HQ captured, rebels say, in blow to junta
The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) said it had taken the strategic city of Lashio in northern Shan State, about 120 km (75 miles) from the Chinese border, after 23 days of fighting with government troops.

This is extremely significant development. It shows how insecure Min Aung Hlaing is. He fears his former mentors are going to take back the reins and stage a coup to put someone else in power.
As a reminder, it was Thein Sein who picked Min Aung Hlaing as chief of the military in 2010 that's set us onto this path.

Prominent crony businessman Serge Pun, who is under Myanmar junta detention, has stepped down as executive chairman of Singapore-listed Yoma Strategic Holdings Limited after 17 years in charge.
This is not only an economic loss for the junta but also a loss of face for Min Aung Hlaing. And that is way bigger.

It's been 77 years. Since Burma's independence hero was gunned down in a hail of machine gun fire. The biggest issues remain the same in the country - ethnic strife and division along with building the proper political institutions for an independent Burma. The military Aung San founded is nowhere near his vision of what it's supposed to be - the liberator of the country. Instead, by merging with the Colonial Army built by the British and using the infrastructure of that colonizing military organization and hanging onto its privileged position within the former colonial state, that militia founded by Aung San has become the colonizer of the country.
Losing Mogok to TNLA would be a big symbolic and economic blow to the Junta within Burma. It would further undermine (any) confidence in Min Aung Hlaing in the country and within the military. This may be more brazen than Lashio and Ngapali.
The Palaung people which the TNLA represents may number at most 500,000 within Burma.
She's not minister. She's the military CHIEF. A general.
Yup. It's back to the old days and old ways. It's cash and goods trading society. This military keeps sending the country back to the stone age.
This is why the military is losing. They are fighting on many fronts: in the North and North-east against 3 brotherhood, in the West against AA, Chins and PDF, in the East against Karens and Karennis, South per this article, and in the major cities and around them against the local resistance people and PDF.
The reason people are withdrawing their money is because 1) value of money is decreasing rapidly and they want to purchase goods or stores of values (gold etc) with it; 2) they don't trust the junta.
I think Chuck might postpone it, since TNT will get a much smaller number of games now under the Amazon deal. It might be once a week kind of deal. I think the other networks might offer him more money and he could chance his mind.
