Just feels like the EPL are scrambling around trying to appease some, and creating a bigger divide. Get them regulated, look at their books and practises and publish it all please

I genuinely think the EPL have shot themselves in the foot here. One could say this was to demonstrate they can keep order in their own house, yet what it’s going to do it open so many negatives the EPL will (imo) be government regulated before long. The politicians are calling for this, and the EPL don’t want it, so you’ve got to ask yourself why don’t they want it? By trying to self regulate they’ve gone too far immediately and created a storm that won’t be contained - it’s going to be fascinating to watch.

Can we please have an independent regulator look at the EPL rather than the clubs?

The key to what’s happening is as you said it, no independent regulator. They want to show they can keep their own house in order. I’m just wondering why. If a regulator came in and looked at the EPL money and practises as well as the clubs, what would it find…?
